Some folks like to modify their rides after they drive off the dealer lots and others like to purchase their ride already modified. Well, for those in the latter group, the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec M/T is the car for you. First and foremost, the sticker price is downright surprising as our test model came in at $27,375, which is amazing for a car with this much styling, handling and quality!

Exterior

You can probably tell from our opening that Bullz-Eye thinks Hyundai has a very sharp and reasonably priced car in the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec M/T, and styling plays a huge role in our calculation. We drove a Gran Premio Gray for a week and this color just doesn’t get dirty; the aggressive looks and muscular stance enables the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec M/T to stand out on the road as people took notice to this sports car. The open mouth front end is reminiscent of the Hyundai Veloster. The 19-inch gunmetal finish alloy wheels fit perfectly inside the wheel wells and upgraded the overall look of the car.

Interior

The upgraded R-Spec was set off with red leather seating and R-Spec designation badges. There is much more room than other coupes and sports cars on the road both in headroom and elbow room, which goes a long way in the Midwest where we like to grow them big! I’ve heard some criticism on the interior compared to the design of the body, but we found that Hyundai laid out a smart game plan for the interior and improved the fit, finish and materials in the cabin of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec M/T. Options that were included in our test model were A/C with outside display temperature display, electroluminescent gauge cluster with multi-info display screen, keyless entry and alarm, power windows, power locks, power outside mirrors, leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, LED tall daytime running lights, Bluetooth hands-free phone system and satellite radio. The dashboard was easy to navigate when looking for basics like buttons and knobs that other brands still can’t figure out. A standout feature in the interior was the wide and comfortable seats with a headrest that is top of the line. Those little things are huge when spending hours testing or purchasing a vehicle.

Performance

The overall performance was a component of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec M/T that is a huge improvement from prior model years. The 2.0 liter twin scroll turbo D-CVVT produces 274 horsepower with premium fuel which is a big upgrade from previous years, and you can feel it when hitting the pedal. The 6-speed close ratio manual transmission with a rear wheel drive powertrain add to the legitimacy of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec M/T as a made-for-the-track ride. The track tuned suspension really sets the tone for extreme handling in the city and on the freeway. Shifting was smooth with the M/T 6 speed with engine sound that demands a second look when passing. You can also feel good about your pocketbook in this car as fuel efficiency is strong with 21 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. You aren’t going to blow the doors off any 450 horsepower muscle cars in the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec M/T, but when it comes to handling and power combined, you’re in the game my friends!

Overview

When you have a superb body design like the Genesis Coupe, any improvements simply make a good car into a great car. That’s exactly what the bigs at Hyundai accomplished when they improved on the Genesis Coupe of a few years ago and came out of the gate with the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec M/T. The performance was enhanced with a more powerful engine in the 2.ot R-Spec M/T as tested, the interior was upgraded and the exterior design was tweaked. That’s what smart companies do when they continue to improve their nameplates rather than strip them down through the years. The overall value of this car is tremendous when considering the total package being offered in the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec M/T.
